About the McClanahan School
The mission of the McClanahan School of Irish Dance is to foster and promote the preservation of Irish culture through the instruction and performance of traditional Irish step dancing and ceili dancing. The school encourages participation for the purpose of both entertainment and competition. The student will experience Irish music and dance — both integral parts of Irish culture — while building camaraderie, social skills and sportsmanship. In turn, the dancer will help to spread the knowledge of and respect for this ancient culture.
Becoming involved in Irish dancing not only teaches respect for Irish culture but also discipline, self-confidence, creativity, conditioning and cooperation. Maintaining a teaching environment that is friendly and nurturing while fostering the enjoyment of dance is of paramount importance at the McClanahan School.
